Whispered Faith

The Speaker is an otherworldly entity, and the primary antagonist of Whispered Faith. Not much is known about it, but its influence is felt constantly throughout the series. Its presence is usually accompanied by heavy breathing, whispering noises, loud growls, and often results in color draining from the video footage. The Speaker is exceedingly strong, with sharp claws and fangs.

It is first shown inhabiting the walls of Lee's home, whispering and scratching in the dark. After several weeks of mentally tormenting Lee, the Speaker emerges and attacks Lee in his sleep.

The Speaker is known to have attached itself to others, including Kaitlyn, a girl who became allied with Lee and Mo due to their common situation. It appears again months later in Thompson Park, ambushing Mo and Lee in the woods, before attacking a girl named Story Parker who gets in the way. It attacks the group again weeks later, jumping on the hood of their car and being run over as they speed away. The Speaker is then driven away by another entity that arrives on the scene, teleporting Lee, Mo, and Story away.

It reveals itself again months later, attacking Lee in the woods after his meeting with The Family, dragging him off to their lair, where he is physically and mentally tortured as a means of acquiring The Book.

After enduring months of torture, Lee's will is finally broken by the Speakers words, which poison and twist his mind, breaking his spirit.

The full extent of the Speaker's partnership with The Family is unknown, however, it is revealed that the creature is a corrupting influence upon members of the group, bestowing infinite knowledge unto its followers, forming an addiction in order to maintain their loyalty.
